Downhill Jam is more like Mellow Rock
Posted by 120911, 105 days ago Dec 31, 1969 18:00
Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam Game Play: 8 This game was a pretty fun to play. The races were intense with some interesting settings. The landscapes of some of the venues offered some stiff challenges. The motion controls worked fairly well with regards to controlling your skater. Graphics: 8 The graphics of this game were gorgeous in some areas. The Inca ruins in particular stood out. The landscape and elevation changes with this particular track were enjoyable to look at and race within. Sound: 7 The sound effects were average at best. There’s only so much you can do with grinding skateboards around the town, etc. There were some humorous grunts and groans added in, when you knocked someone over. However, overall the sounds were nothing above ordinary. Difficulty: Medium Concept: 6 The overall concept of the game was painfully obvious. Place as well as possible in your races to upgrade your boards. By doing this, your ranking goes up. You start out as a Greenhorn and steadily build up your respect meter. As shown, the games concept is nothing more than a simplistic race game. Overall: 7 This game was by no means boring. The races were fun, and at times could be frustrating, depending on the venue and the particular skill you bring to the race. There’s nothing more annoying than seeing the finish line approaching, but not having enough in your grind meter to get that extra push of speed to win the race. The only other letdown was that I lost the game with only two levels/boards to go. Boards Obtained: 18/20 Status Levels : 8/10
