Gamers are quite used to waiting on new titles to arrive. We practically expect every high profile release to be delayed multiple times, and take every release date with a grain of salt. But in an interesting move, Ubisoft’s Laurent Detoc has decided that the company will withhold Assassin’s Creed 2 until there is more "anticipation" for the title.
Interesting play, Mr. Detoc, try and build anticipation for a title by announcing that it won’t be released until the anticipation level rises. It’s either a work of pure genius, or a convenient excuse to explain away the fact that we haven’t heard from the game since the first Assassin’s Creed came out.
I’m a little concerned with how "anticipation" will be built, considering the original game debuted to mixed reviews and a general sense of "eh" from the gaming populace at large. They really need a big announcement to gin up excitement. Something like, "Assassin’s Creed 2, now with more flag hunting!"
