It’s hard to argue that the PS3 is looking at a killer lineup this holiday season. With big multiplatform titles like Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour and Prince of Persia taking their place alongside console exclusives LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2, Sony is banking on a big quarter for their giant black box.

Today we have a few more details on one of those giant games, as Insomniac has released a treasure trove of information on Resistance 2. The first thing we learned is that the game will be available on November 4, so mark that date on your calendar for when you and your friends go Chimera hunting.

The game is also getting the now seemingly-madatory special edition release, which will retail for $79.99. Here’s a rundown of what the extra $20 will get you:

That’s not all though, as Insomniac, sensing that our heads haven’t exploded yet from all this cool news, has also let fly with info about joining the public multiplayer beta. There are several ways in, including pre-ordering Resistance 2 from GameStop, subscribing to Qore, or simply purchasing Qore Episode 3. There will also be the opportunity to apply online for one of the remaining slots not filled by those with a guaranteed spot, but Insomniac won’t promise that you’ll make it in.

Whew, that’s a lot of Resistance 2 info, makes me want to go play the original. Someone hand me my Auger, I’ve got bugs to squash.
