The votes have been counted and the results are in for the 26th year of the prestigious Golden Joystick awards. Popular comedian Frankie Boyle hosted the ceremony that saw Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare pick up the ‘Ultimate Game of the Year’ and a number of other awards.

You may have noticed this year’s major awards were all taken by games with 4 in the title! Grand Theft Auto IV, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Call of Duty 4 were all winners...any noticeable absences? Halo 3 only managed second runner-up in both Xbox game of the year category and the Nuts all-Nighter Award (a.k.a best multiplayer). Golden Joystick awards are all voted for by the gaming public.

Interestingly Call of Duty 4 won ultimate game of the year, best online game, and best PC game; Xbox 360 owners clearly preferred Grand Theft Auto IV and PS3 owners their beloved Metal Gear Solid 4.
