Fans of both music games and arcades in the US have subsisted on worn-out DDR machines or exceedingly rare imported Bemani cabinets in recent years. PM Studios aims to alleviate this problem by releasing DJ Max Technika in American arcades.
PM Studios confirmed with music game website Bemanistyle that they plan to bring DJ Max Technika to America, though no time frame is mentioned. Other sources report that PM Studios is aiming for a December release, but given that they would need to localize and launch the game within one month any date in December is impractical at best.
DJ Max is most closely related to Konami’s Beatmania series, though Technika makes a radical departure by using a touch screen. The game displays a set of notes on screen along with a sweeping bar. When the bar passes over the notes, the player must press the notes on the screen to play them. (A video might explain it better.)
