Dance Dance Revolution is still one of the biggest games worldwide, and it seems that theater has taken notice.
From December 3 - 20, if you love DDR and live near New York’s Ohio Theatre, you have the chance to view Dance Dance Revolution, the musical, starring As the World Turns actor Van Hansis and directed by Les Freres Cobusier.
The story will follow a dancing prophet named Moonbeam Funk who helps young gangs fight a fascist government. It will, of course, feature a strong mix of Japanese rave music. A synopsis of the show at the Web site TheaterMania describes it as "Footloose set in the future -- but much scarier, and with 40 really attractive, barely-clothed young actors as well as free beer!"
One thing the company said right was this is downright scary. We have seen some odd video game interpretations in the past -- Super Mario Bros. the movie comes to mind -- but this one takes the cake.
