7-Eleven Getting Serious About Game Sales
Posted by Aaron Cooley-Themm, 49 days ago Nov 21, 2008 20:50

Do you love Slurpies and Video Games? No, we aren’t talking about the newest bizarre flavor combo at 7-Eleven. We are, however, telling you that the next time you head to your local 7-Eleven with a Slurpie on your mind, and ready yourself to head to your local video game retailer you wont have to make separate trips.

7-Eleven has just announced that all the biggest titles for the year will be sold at their stores. In the announcement they released a list of games that they will be carrying including Guitar Hero World Tour, Gears of War 2, Fable 2, and Fallout 3.

Michael Jester, the company’s manager for gaming and electronics confirmed in a statement that 7-Eleven is serious about this new endeavor. "This is not just a holiday promotion for us,but a brand-new product line-up that will be available year-round," he said. "We may not be a total entertainment destination...yet, but we’re hoping to expand our selection beyond the high-dollar, hot-selling games to include options for all budgets, like value-priced video games as well as DVD movies."

One piece of news that came from all of this is that 7-Eleven employees may be properly trained on following street dates before the company kicked off the campaign. As confirmed by GameSpot, 7-Eleven did actually break the street date by selling a couple copies of Gears of War 2 and the newest World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, a few days before the release of the games.

This may seem like an odd choice of product for 7Eleven to be selling, but you just might change your tune the next time you’re in a hurry and have to choose between picking up a Slurpie and stopping at the game store.
