Atari Lays It On the Table
Posted by Art Green, 39 days ago Dec 2, 2008 12:09

At a company event in London, Atari announced a number of release dates to their upcoming games and confirmed the development of three previously unannounced titles.

One of these games is The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, from Polish developer CD Projekt. Previously a PC game franchise, this game will appear on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, sporting the same storyline as the PC version, but featuring updates to the combat system.

Atari plans to release The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf in Fall 2009.

The company also announced plans to release a music game from Rez and Lumines creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi called QJ. Neither Mizuguchi nor Atari released any concrete gameplay details on the upcoming Wii game, and no release date was announced.

Atari also let word slip on the release schedule for two upcoming titles, including a June 2009 estimate for Ghostbusters: The Video Game, (which, for a short period of time, appeared headed to cancellation).

Another title that Atari plans to publish is the Action-RTS Demigod made by Gas Powered Games. The PC-exclusive title is slated for February 2009.

Finally, Atari expressed its desire to get in on the arcade boxing genre with Ready 2 Rumble Revolution for the Nintendo Wii. The game will feature "all [of] the knockout features of […] Ready 2 Rumble Round 1 and Round 2," according to a press release, while introducing motion controls.

Atari has high hopes for the title. "Ready 2 Rumble Revolution is poised to take back the title as the undisputed champion of arcade boxing games and we hope to reach an even bigger audience than ever thanks to the huge popularity of Wii," said Phil Harrison, President of Infogrames.

Atari expects the game to reach shelves in the Spring of 2009.
