After almost a month of teasing gamers with snippets of the highly anticipated Modern Warfare 2, Activision and Infinity Ward have finally released the full length trailer for their fall 2009 military shooter. Originally shown during a televised broadcast of the NBA playoffs, the entire trailer in all its high definition glory can now be seen online at GameTrailers.
So what can we deduce from the trailer that we couldnt before?
Well, the plot has been firmly established. You play as a member of Task Force 141 (an international collation of special forces soldiers) and you are hunting down a man named Vladimir Makarov who heads a rogue, increasingly militant Russian nationalist group. Judging from the trailer, you will be shooting and blowing up stuff everywhere from Afghanistan, to the tundras of Russia, to a castle under siege, to the streets of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Also, it is well worth noting that screen shots released in an issue of Game Informer depicts a team of riot shield wielding special forces soldiers storming a shower room while being sniped at -a recreation of an action scene in the Michael Bay film The Rock starring Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage.
New weapons and (maybe) vehicles are being introduced as well. New pistols, at least one new shotgun, numerous more assault rifles, and even an icepick are used to dispatch people in the trailer. Also, it seems likely that civilians will become another factor to watch out for in the single player campaign.
No new details concerning the games multiplayer has been announced, but hopefully we will hear something about that at this years E3. Modern Warfare 2 is slated to be released November 10, 2009.
