Capcom today announced that they have bought Tenchu developers K2 studios. K2 studios recently created the resoundingly mediocre Xbox 360 game Tenchu Z, as well as Valhalla Knights. The move is less likely about the Tenchu franchise but more of a award for the outsourced work K2 did on Lost Planet.
The acquisition was made via an exchange of stock, which is expected to be completed on May 1.
Capcom had this to say:
“The move is aimed at making the company’s game development activities more efficient and speedy, and it will also help increase the value of the group as a whole.”
So what does this mean for the Tenchu series? Will Capcom give control over to another development team, or will they simply use K2 for the dull technical work on future Capcom games?
