Have Playstation 4 details been leaked across the Internet?
Without a shadow of a doubt, the PlayStation 3 is a powerful machine. It’s generally considered the most expensive out of the three current gen consoles, but it is also generally considered to be crammed with the most technology out of the three: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Connectivity, Cell Processor and Blu-ray Functionality all crammed into one black box. The PS3 is arguably future proof with sales slowly, but surely picking up. Blu-ray sales now outpace DVD sales at the same age and games look absolutely fantastic graphically with titles such as Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2 headlining the list. Considering all the talk about the PS3’s future in the gaming industry there is no surprise rumors of the next iteration would pop up. Although the PS3 is sitting in third place in the console war, Sony may be better situated for longevity due to the technology in the console. Therefore it will last the longest out of the three before the nest console comes out, right? Well maybe not if it has anything to do with these leaked PS4 details.
Over at Gamingfront.net, they have supposedly translated from Japanese some leaked PlayStation 4 details from a Japanese website. Although not translated very well, some details are rather clear. The leaked document is claiming that the PlayStation 4 will utilize the same Cell technology as the PlayStation 3. It will be using the existing Cell technology, but it will be an updated version, which boasts twice the power as the one in the PlayStation 3. Something interesting found by reading between the lines is a statement claiming that Sony wouldn’t be able to compete in the next generation of consoles if they followed the same route they did with the PS3. So taking that in mind along with the supposed lower cost of development of the PS4 could mean that the PS4 is only a beefed up version of the PS3 and not a fully fetched new console.
To be honest, this whole “leaked” document seems a bit bogus to me. With it only being in the market for 2 years, the PlayStation 3 easily has 5 to 7 years left before coming to the end of its life cycle (possibly more). Although the translation of this document is pretty bad, one thing that does stand out to me is that if these documents have any factual bearing at all, it is probably the basis for a slim downed, low production cost of the PlayStation 3 and not a PS4. With games such as Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, God of War III and Gran Turismo 5 yet to come out, the Playstation 3 has many, many years before we see a PS4. So to these supposed PS4 plans? Bogus.

Section 8 no longer coming to Playstation 3?
Section 8 is a FPS game coming from the people that did the F.E.A.R expansion pack. The game has a futuristic setting to it and judging from the screenshots we have seen, it looks bloody good to! Over the recent weeks though, there has been a lot mystery surrounding the game. More importantly, questions arose as to what platforms it will be released on. Originally slated for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it was thought that the console versions had been cancelled. This was due to a press release that stated it would be coming out on PC from here on out. This was later corrected via Southpeak’s public relations.
“Section 8 is coming out for PC AND Xbox 360. Just thought you should know, since you sounded kind of disappointed (not that I would blame you).”
Wait, hold on! There is no mention of the Playstation 3 version? So it seems that only PC and Xbox 360 will get this impressive looking shooter later on in the year, or at least that’s what it seemed like up until now. According to this website, Section 8 may not be cancelled after all, but just delayed with the company stating “we will be in a position to discuss the PS3 version of Section 8 soon.” So there seems to be hope yet for Playstation 3 owners that they may yet get this futuristic FPS on their console of choice. The website also goes into detail explaining that the PlayStation 3 version may get some exclusive content on the same lines as Bioshock 2 and Alone in the Dark; however, TheGameReviews.com must stress to you that this is nothing pure of speculation on their part.
So for the time being PC and Xbox 360 owners can look forward to Section 8 later this year. And the state of the PlayStation 3 version? Keep your ears posted here as this game is not cancelled yet.

A new Zelda game to be announced soon?
Although the Nintendo Wii has been selling like hotcakes, and Nintendo’s software has been dominating all the charts across the world, something seems to be missing. Ask any hardcore gamer what is wrong with the Wii and their answer would be, “Where the hell are the real games? Where are the hardcore games?” I feel there pain. I have a Wii, but I haven’t played it since I completed Mario Galaxy and that was ages ago. It’s like they forgotten who kept them afloat during the GameCube era. Well things might be changing, and sooner than expected.
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata is set to take stage and address the audience of this year’s Game Developer Conference in March this year. Iwata will be talking about “Discovering new development opportunities.” Many will remember that the last time he was at GDC he announced The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for the Nintendo DS, which went on to receive great commercial and critical success. So the question is will he announce a long overdue Zelda for the Wii? Well many websites are claiming this may be the time they officially announce the game and release for later on in the year. The Nintendo’s 2009 release schedule looks rather weak compared to Sony’s and Microsoft’s for their respective consoles.
We surely hope they announce the new Zelda at this year’s GDC. The Wii needs a hardcore game and they don’t come much bigger than a new Zelda game. We don’t need any more Wii Fit games, that’s what we go for the gym for. We want hardcore and we want it now!
