Nintendo reveals new Wii controller
Nintendo’s Japanese site has been updated with a new classic controller, dubbed the “Classic Controller PRO.” It has another set of shoulder buttons and extended grips for more comfortable playing. The controller also looks quite a bit thicker than the original classic controller, which might imply the existence of force feedback motors.
Apparently, the controller will still plug in to a Wiimote. The PRO is slated for a summer release in Japan, though no pricing details are available. I was just thinking I needed another Wii-related peripheral to throw on the growing pile, great.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars trailer released
Rockstar released the first official trailer for their upcoming Nintendo DS game today, chock full of all the style, sin, and brutality you’d expect from the series. The game is set to release on March 17, which means you can soon terrify all those complacent passengers on the bus with the screams of bludgeoned prostitutes.
Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition on Good ol’ Games
Duke Nukem 3D is now available on Good ol’ Games – a service that offers older games DRM-free. The package costs $5.99, which is slightly cheaper than the $10 charged for the game over the Xbox Live Arcade.
In addition, several substantially less-awesome Apogee titles are also now available on GOG, including Rise of the Triad and Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project. The games are all guaranteed to play on Windows XP or Vista.
EA rethinking their approach to release dates
Redwood Shores Studio General Manager Glen Schofield admitted that some of EA’s 2008 release dates may have been less than helpful in an interview with Gamesindustry.biz.
“The one big thing we learned was, we came out with a bunch of new IP, actually with a bunch of new games at the same time,” Schofield said.
He went on to say the industry can now support releases outside of the holiday window.
“I think that we traditionally thought that people only buy games at Christmas or around holiday time, and now we’re looking back and going, ’You know what, GTA launched in May; Resident Evil comes out in March’,” Schofield said.

Prince of Persia DLC delayed
The epilogue DLC for Prince of Persia, which was originally scheduled to come out February 27, will in fact not be hitting the marketplace tomorrow. Ubisoft moved the date to March 5.
If you’re one of those players that kicked something over and swore at the ending of PoP, hopefully the DLC will give you something a bit more substantial…

Sam & Max headed to the Xbox Live Arcade
Telltale’s episodic adventure series Sam & Max will soon hit the Xbox Live Arcade in the form of two season packages. No release dates or pricing information has been released.
In addition, Telltale will resurrect yet another cult favorite property with their episodic treatment. Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Adventures will hit the PC and Xbox Live Arcade this spring, delivering more subtle humor and difficult item-based puzzles (and hopefully penguins masquerading as chickens).
