If you've ever dreamed about becoming a professional gamer, it all begins with the actual game that you play. Some games are competitive enough to make it possible to be professional with them, while others are just meant for fun and won't get you anywhere. Here are the top five games that are being played professionally.
1. League of Legends
This is one of the most competitive games available that is entirely focused around PvP. The goal is to try and defeat your opponents so that you can take down their towers, then inhibitors, and finally their nexus. You are allowed to choose from over 100 champions, each with their own unique set of abilities. You then earn gold during the match to try and gear up so that you can strike down your enemies.
2. World of Warcraft
The competitiveness in World of Warcraft is on both a PvE and PvP level. Many guilds are focused on trying to become the best at beating raids and becoming the first to take down certain bosses, while others come up with strategies to win battlegrounds. There are many serious groups revolved around this game, and with enough experience and determination, it is possible to become a legend.
3. Halo
Halo is the first console game on this list, and it has attracted gamers from all over. It is a first person shooter that revolves around players playing as the legendary Spartans. The professional component comes from the PvP Xbox Live aspect of this game. There are many different modes that people compete in, such as capture the flag or slayer. Each mode keeps track of your stats to show off at the end, so show your competition what you're made of!
4. StarCraft II
This is a very different game than any of the others in this list. In this game, you create an army that fights at your will. The goal is to collect more resources than your opponent, and then create an army that will destroy theirs. To become a true professional at this game, you need to learn about all the units used by the different races so that you can effectively counter anything your opponent uses. This is another game that is entirely based around the PvP when it comes to becoming professional, but you can always play in the story mode for relaxed gameplay.
5. The Elder Scrolls Online
Although not quite released yet, many professional gamers are already turning their heads towards this title. It takes all of the maps from the other Elder Scrolls games and places them in a single MMO experience. There are both PvP and PvE game styles that you can play with, but the professional gaming area will more than likely be in the PvP part of the game. Get ahead of the competition by getting the game right when it comes out!
